The "Keto Flu" is a reaction your body has when converting from a carb burner to a fat burner. Some people feel worse than others when they make this transition. Some people have no symptoms at all. It really depends on how addicted they are to carbs.
This reaction is called it the "Keto Flu". It's called this because it kind of feels like you have the flu. You might feel achy, tired, nauseous, headachy, crampy and grumpy. For some people it's enough to make you say forget it!
What's really happening? Your body is letting go of water and electrolytes! It's simply getting dehydrated.
First of all, it is obvious that you want to drink tons of water. It is recommend you drink half your body weight in ounces of water.
On top of that, try these three weird but effective remedies that will help you sail through the transition with minimal discomfort:
1. Take LONG Epsom salt baths: Seriously! Your skin is your biggest organ and can easily absorb the salt it needs. Put about 6 cups of Epsom salt in your bath water and soak for 40 minutes every day in the first week.
2. Drink pickle juice: Yep! As soon as you start to feel like crud, drink a shot of pickle juice. You should feel better in no time.
3. Put salt under your tongue: I like pink Himalayan salt crystals the best. Not only do they help replenish the salt your body needs, it will help eliviate hunger pains.
So that's it! Don't give up! A ketogenic lifestyle is one of the most anti-inflammitory and healing lifestyles around and you can do this!
